“How to Kill a Pitch” Recognized as Short Film Winner”
St. Louis, MO – Sept. 15, 2015 – “How to Kill a Pitch,” an irreverent short film about the ad industry, won the IndieFEST Film Awards’ Award of Merit.
The film went viral on Funny or Die, an Emmy-winning comedy video website and film/TV production company founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. “How to Kill a Pitch” was directed by Angie Lawing, written by Walt Jaschek and shot by Chris Lawing.
Each year, IndieFEST selects its winners from thousands of creative and quality submissions worldwide. Judges include in-house staff and a committee of industry professionals, including Emmy and Telly award recipients.
“How to Kill a Pitch” is a satirical peek into the agency world, where we’ve all had that perfect pitch – that pitch to die for. And, it all goes great until, well, it doesn’t,” said director Angie Lawing. “We brought together a talented writer, cast and crew to collaborate and have fun with it, and it came to life just as I envisioned, which is a testament to everyone involved.”
Agency owners Angie and Chris Lawing have spent more than 20 years directing, shooting and editing film, video and broadcast content. Alongside their client work, they make time for passion projects. Both were also involved in “Witness 11,” a short historic drama that recently won several awards at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase.
“There’s something about making a film that’s our own, with no constraints other than our imagination,” Angie Lawing said. “In a narrative short film, we can create the world and everything about it, and each person in the project adds more depth and creativity.”
